Do performance requirements for GRC materials differ across climate zones?

Performance requirements for GRC materials vary significantly across climate zones. Based on the characteristics of China's five major climate zones, Qinglong Group has developed a targeted GRC performance index system to ensure the long-term durability of the material in various environments.

In severe cold regions (such as Northeast China), the focus is on freeze-thaw resistance. Qinglong Group requires that GRC in this region withstand no fewer than 350 freeze-thaw cycles with a mass loss rate of ≤3%. In a project in Harbin, the incorporation of an air-entraining agent (air content of 6%-8%) enabled GRC to perform excellently at -30℃. Meanwhile, the elastic modulus is controlled at 35-40 GPa to avoid low-temperature brittleness.

In hot and rainy regions (such as South China), emphasis is placed on impermeability and resistance to heat and humidity. Qinglong Group sets the chloride ion diffusion coefficient limit at 1.0×10⁻¹²m²/s and adopts hydrophobic treatment technology. In the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center project, GRC roof panels showed a carbonation depth of only 0.3mm after 5 years of use. The flexural strength standard is raised to 22MPa to withstand typhoon loads.

In arid regions (such as Northwest China), drying shrinkage and resistance to wind-blown sand must be considered. Qinglong Group controls drying shrinkage within 0.04% through internal curing technology and adds a wear-resistant layer to the surface. In a project in Xinjiang, GRC components showed surface wear of less than 0.5mm after 10 years of wind and sand erosion.

Qinglong Group has also developed specialized formulations for special environments. For example, coastal areas adopt compound admixture technology, while industrial zones apply a higher acid-erosion resistance grade. This differentiated performance requirements system ensures the successful application of GRC across the country.
