The full name of UHPC is Ultra-High Performance Concrete, translated into Chinese as “超高性能混凝土”. As the Qinglong Group, with 28 years of deep expertise in the UHPC/GRC/GRG/GRP fields, we believe that UHPC is not merely a material name, but represents a leap forward in material performance. According to the definition by the International Union of Materials and Structures (RILEM), UHPC refers to a cement-based composite material with a compressive strength of no less than 120MPa, along with excellent durability and toughness. The core value of this material lies in breaking through the performance bottlenecks of traditional concrete, opening up entirely new possibilities for architectural design and engineering innovation.
The core defining indicators of UHPC are first reflected in its mechanical properties. Compressive strength is the most fundamental indicator; high-quality UHPC typically achieves a compressive strength of 120-180MPa, more than 1.5 times that of C80 concrete. The UHPC curtain wall panels used by Qinglong Group in the Shenzhen Yirui Biotechnology Building project maintain a stable compressive strength of over 150MPa, ensuring the structural safety of the thin-walled components. Flexural strength is another key indicator, generally required to be no less than 15MPa—a value more than 10 times that of ordinary concrete—enabling UHPC to be used for large-span thin-walled components.
Durability indicators are an important dimension in defining UHPC. The chloride ion diffusion coefficient is a key parameter for measuring impermeability; high-quality UHPC should have a chloride ion diffusion coefficient below 1.5×10⁻¹²m²/s, two orders of magnitude lower than ordinary concrete. In the industry standard General Technical Conditions for Non-Load-Bearing Components of Ultra-High Performance Concrete (UHPC), which Qinglong Group helped formulate, it is explicitly required that UHPC retain a relative dynamic elastic modulus of no less than 80% after 300 freeze-thaw cycles. In the roofing project of the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center, the actual performance of this indicator even exceeded 90%.
Toughness indicators are the distinctive feature that sets UHPC apart from traditional concrete. Fracture energy is an important parameter for measuring toughness; high-quality UHPC can achieve a fracture energy of 20,000-40,000J/m², more than 100 times that of ordinary concrete. This property allows UHPC to disperse energy through micro-cracks when subjected to impact, avoiding brittle failure. In the light-transmitting UHPC project at Shanghai Century Plaza, Qinglong Group optimized the steel fiber content and distribution, raising the material's fracture energy to over 30,000J/m², ensuring safety in densely populated areas.
In summary, the core definition of UHPC is a system of multiple coordinated indicators. Through 28 years of technical accumulation, Qinglong Group has established a complete UHPC performance indicator system, providing ultra-high performance concrete solutions with outstanding performance for all types of engineering projects.
