The mold development cycle for UHPC shaped components is divided into three levels based on complexity: simple shapes (flat panels, single-curved surfaces) take 7-10 days, medium complexity (double-curved surfaces, shallow relief) takes 10-15 days, and complex shapes (deep relief, irregular structures) take 15-25 days. Mold fabrication uses a combined process of CNC machining (precision ±0.1mm) + manual finishing to ensure forming quality.
Specific time allocation: 3D data processing 1-2 days, CNC machining 3-8 days, manual finishing 2-5 days, mold trial and acceptance 1-2 days. In one large art installation mold project, parallel operations (design and material preparation running simultaneously) compressed the conventional 20-day cycle to 15 days. Qinglong UHPC has established a standardized mold library, enabling rapid delivery within 5 days for common shapes.
Uses three-axis CNC machining, with 1 day of programming and 2-3 days of machining. The mold material is GRP (fibreglass), which is low-cost and quick to produce. Suitable for projects with small batches and simple shapes.
Uses five-axis CNC machining, with 2 days of programming and 4-6 days of machining. The mold substrate is tooling board, surface-reinforced with epoxy resin. Suitable for most artistic shaping needs.
Adopts a combined process of 3D-printed rapid prototyping + silicone mold replication. The prototype is printed first (1-3 days), then the silicone mold is made (5-7 days), and finally the resin mold is cast. Suitable for extremely complex artistic shapes.
Establishes a modular mold system, enabling mold reuse for the same shape series. Adopts rapid clamping technology to reduce mold changeover time. Shortens mold curing cycles through pretreatment processes.
Mold development is a critical step in UHPC shaping. Through scientific management and technological innovation, a balance between quality and efficiency can be achieved.
