Freeze-thaw resistance of UHPC exterior walls in severe cold regions must be addressed from three aspects: materials, design, and construction. The frost resistance grade of materials should be ≥F300, the air void spacing factor ≤200μm, and the moisture content ≤5%. During design, panel thickness should be controlled at ≥25mm, with drainage details incorporated. During construction, joint sealing should be reinforced to prevent water intrusion. With these measures, UHPC panels can withstand more than 300 freeze-thaw cycles.
Frost resistance tests show that after 300 freeze-thaw cycles, high-quality UHPC has a mass loss rate ≤0.5% and a relative dynamic elastic modulus ≥90%. In a Northeast China project with winter temperatures as low as -35℃, inspection after 5 years of use showed the UHPC panels completely intact, while ordinary concrete exhibited surface spalling. This proves the suitability of UHPC in severe cold regions.
Frost resistance grade ≥F300; air void spacing factor ≤200μm; these requirements are the foundation of frost resistance.
Panel thickness ≥25mm; provision of drainage details; these measures reduce frost damage.
Tight joint sealing; these controls prevent water intrusion.
Regular inspection; timely repairs; these key points maintain performance.
Frost resistance requires systematic protection. Qinglong's specialized UHPC technology is suitable for severe cold regions.
