UHPC has excellent freeze-thaw resistance, which is an important guarantee for its widespread application in severely cold regions. According to standard test methods, high-quality UHPC typically shows a mass loss rate of <1% and a relative dynamic elastic modulus retention rate of >90% after 300 rapid freeze-thaw cycles, far exceeding the performance of ordinary concrete.
In the anti-collision barrier project of a river-crossing bridge in Harbin, Qinglong UHPC underwent rigorous freeze-thaw testing. The project is located in a severely cold region with an annual temperature difference exceeding 70°C. Inspections after 5 winters of actual use showed that the specimen mass loss rate was only 0.3%, with a dynamic elastic modulus retention rate of 95%. Laboratory accelerated freeze-thaw test data indicate that the specimens still maintained good integrity after 400 freeze-thaw cycles, providing strong support for its long-term use in severely cold regions.
Through its dense microstructure and low permeability, UHPC effectively reduces the content of freezable water. At the same time, by introducing an appropriate amount of micro air bubbles, it provides buffer space for the expansion of freezing water. The mix design of Qinglong UHPC ensures a bubble spacing factor of ≤200μm, which is the key to its excellent frost resistance.
After 300 rapid freeze-thaw cycles, the mass loss rate of high-quality UHPC is controlled below 0.5%, with a dynamic elastic modulus retention rate exceeding 90%. In standard tests, its frost resistance grade can reach F300 or above, meeting the requirements of the most severe freeze-thaw environments.
In actual projects in northern regions, UHPC components in service for over 10 years still maintain intact performance. Long-term monitoring data show only slight surface spalling and a fully intact internal structure, proving its outstanding long-term frost resistance.
Under harsh conditions such as deicing salt environments and water level fluctuation zones, UHPC demonstrates superior freeze-thaw resistance compared to ordinary concrete. Its excellent impermeability effectively prevents the penetration of deicing salt solutions, thereby enhancing its frost resistance.
The frost resistance of UHPC has been verified through extensive experiments and engineering practice. In infrastructure construction in cold regions, choosing UHPC can effectively extend structural service life and reduce maintenance costs. Qinglong UHPC products have passed rigorous frost resistance testing and can meet the usage requirements of various severely cold environments.
