The outstanding performance of GRC (Glass Fiber Reinforced Cement) stems from its precise material composition system. As a technology leader with 28 years of deep industry experience, Qinglong GRC, based on extensive experiments and engineering practice, can clearly state that a scientific and stable GRC formula is mainly composed of five major categories of materials: cementitious materials, reinforcing fibers, aggregates, admixtures, and modifiers. Among them, alkali-resistant glass fiber (AR-Glass Fiber) is the core reinforcing phase that gives GRC its high toughness and crack resistance, and its quality directly determines the long-term durability of the product.
Qinglong GRC's application of alkali-resistant glass fiber in the Wuhan Han Show Theatre, a national key project, is truly exemplary. The project's "Chinese Red Lantern" shaped curtain wall placed extremely high demands on material toughness, durability, and color stability. The Qinglong technical team selected zirconia-type alkali-resistant glass fiber with a zirconia (ZrO₂) content of no less than 16.5%, controlled the fiber length at 12-25mm and the diameter at 13-20μm, and applied a special coupling agent for surface treatment. Combined with a low-alkali sulfoaluminate cement matrix, it successfully withstood the long-term erosion of Wuhan's high-temperature and high-humidity environment. Follow-up inspections 8 years after project completion showed that the fiber reinforcement effect retention rate exceeded 95%, fully verifying the value of quality fiber and scientific proportioning.
Zirconia (ZrO₂) content is the key indicator for measuring fiber alkali resistance. Quality fiber must have a ZrO₂ content of ≥16.5%, and Qinglong prefers products with ≥18% content to ensure long-term stability in the high-alkali cement environment. The fiber surface must be treated with a special silane coupling agent to significantly enhance the interfacial bond strength with the cement matrix, which is the basis for effective load transfer and preventing fiber "pull-out". The fiber length and diameter (aspect ratio) must be optimized, typically 12-25mm in length and 13-20μm in diameter, to ensure an ideal three-dimensional random uniform distribution in spray or premix processes.
The cementitious material system typically uses rapid-hardening sulfoaluminate cement or special low-alkali cement to control alkali content at the source and protect the glass fiber. Aggregates use refined quartz sand with excellent gradation and a mud content below 0.3%, with a maximum particle size usually not exceeding 2mm, to form a dense skeleton. The chemical admixture system includes high-range water reducers (lowering the water-cement ratio), retarders (controlling workable time), and defoamers (reducing harmful pores), which are key to optimizing workability and density.
Qinglong GRC has established a set of stringent raw material admission and inspection standards. Before each batch of alkali-resistant glass fiber enters storage, its ZrO₂ content, tensile strength, moisture content, and coupling agent coating effect must be tested. Through precise proportioning trials in the central laboratory, key parameters such as fiber volume content (typically 3%-5%) and water-cement ratio (0.3-0.35) are ensured to be optimal, laying the foundation for outstanding product performance at the source of materials.
GRC performance is a systematic engineering effort, and quality raw materials are the cornerstone. With its deep understanding and strict control of core materials, especially alkali-resistant glass fiber, Qinglong GRC ensures that its products perform outstandingly and enjoy a long service life in various demanding environments.
