The durability of UHPC is a key characteristic that distinguishes it from ordinary concrete. According to accelerated aging tests and engineering tracking data, high-quality UHPC is expected to have a service life of over 100 years under normal use conditions. Through material optimization and process innovation, Qinglong UHPC products have achieved an internationally advanced level of durability.
In a coastal hotel project in Hainan, Qinglong UHPC components have withstood 8 years of harsh conditions featuring high temperature, high humidity, and high salinity. The latest inspection data show: a carbonation depth of only 0.2mm, a chloride ion penetration depth of 1.2mm, and a strength retention rate of 92%, all entirely within the allowable range of the standards. In laboratory accelerated aging tests, after 300 freeze-thaw cycles (-20°C to +20°C), the mass loss rate was <0.5% and the relative dynamic elastic modulus was >90%, far exceeding the requirements of national standards. This outstanding durability stems from material optimization: the use of zircon-type alkali-resistant glass fiber (ZrO₂ content ≥16.5%) and low-alkali sulphoaluminate cement (alkali content ≤0.6%) ensures long-term durability at the material level.
The carbonation depth of high-quality UHPC over 50 years is less than 1mm, which is nearly negligible. This stems from its dense microstructure, which effectively blocks the penetration of carbon dioxide. In accelerated carbonation tests (20% CO₂ concentration), the carbonation depth at 28 days is ≤2mm, just 1/5 that of ordinary concrete.
In marine environments, UHPC exhibits excellent resistance to chloride ion attack. Its chloride ion diffusion coefficient is below 2.0×10⁻¹²m²/s, just 1/100 that of ordinary concrete. Electric flux method tests show a charge passed of <1000 coulombs. This impermeability ensures long-term durability in harsh environments.
After 300 rapid freeze-thaw cycles (-20°C to +20°C), the mass loss rate is <0.5% and the dynamic elastic modulus retention rate is >90%. In projects in severe cold northern regions, this performance ensures that components remain intact even after the test of harsh winters.
Tracking of projects in use for more than 15 years shows stable performance. Testing of UHPC that has been in use for 12 years on a project in Shanghai showed a strength retention rate of 90% and a carbonation depth of 1.2mm. These long-term data provide empirical support for durability assessment.
The durability advantages of UHPC have been doubly verified through rigorous testing and engineering practice. Choosing high-quality products and proper installation can provide long-term assurance for projects.
