Toughness is a key mechanical property of UHPC materials, directly affecting their impact resistance and crack resistance. The flexural toughness index I5 of high-quality UHPC can reach 3.5-4.5, more than 10 times that of ordinary concrete.
In the Wuhan Han Show Theater project, Qinglong UHPC curtain wall panels achieved a flexural toughness more than 200 times that of ordinary concrete while maintaining strength. This outstanding toughness enables the panels to withstand large deformations without failure, significantly improving seismic performance and safety. The combined reinforcement scheme of hooked-end steel fibers and alkali-resistant glass fibers used in the project allows the material to absorb large amounts of energy upon impact through mechanisms such as fiber pull-out and bridging.
Through optimal selection of fiber types and dosage optimization, a multi-scale fiber reinforcement system has been established. Fibers at different scales work synergistically to effectively prevent crack propagation.
Through surface treatment and mix proportion optimization, the interface bonding between fibers and the matrix has been improved. This technology enables the fiber reinforcement effect to be fully realized.
Long-span design is achieved by leveraging the toughness advantages of UHPC. This innovative application expands the material's range of use.
Flexural toughness is determined by three-point bending tests. The toughness index reaches I5≥3.5 and I10≥5.5. These indicators ensure the material has sufficient energy absorption capacity.
Toughness performance requires professional technical support. Choosing a manufacturer with a well-established technical system ensures the material's toughness advantages are fully realized.
