GRC material has excellent fire resistance, with a fire rating reaching Class A non-combustible material standard. According to GB8624-2012 "Classification of Burning Behaviour of Building Materials and Products", high-quality GRC achieves Class A2 combustion performance and Class t0 smoke toxicity rating, making it a completely reliable fire-resistant material.
In the Shanghai Tower project, Qinglong's GRC curtain wall system passed rigorous fire testing: at 1000℃ high temperature, components maintained integrity for over 2 hours, with a back-face temperature rise not exceeding 140℃. This outstanding fire performance stems from GRC's material properties: the cement-based material itself is non-combustible, glass fibers have a melting point above 1000℃, and the material's low thermal conductivity (0.5-0.8W/m·K) effectively blocks heat transfer. The reinforced structural design adopted in the project ensures that components will not spall or fall off in a fire, providing valuable time for personnel evacuation and firefighting. Smoke toxicity tests show that the material does not release toxic gases when burning, ensuring personnel safety.
Tested by the National Quality Supervision and Inspection Center for Fixed Fire Extinguishing Systems and Fire-Resistant Components, Qinglong GRC achieves Class A2 combustion performance, a smoke density rating of SDR≤10, and a smoke toxicity rating at the quasi-safe level (AQ1), fully meeting the fire protection requirements of high-rise buildings.
Standard components have a fire resistance limit of over 2 hours, while specially designed fire wall systems achieve a fire resistance limit of 4 hours. This performance ensures that components maintain integrity and thermal insulation in fires, buying time for personnel evacuation. After fire resistance testing, the residual load-bearing capacity of components still reaches 70% of the design value.
Performance remains stable under long-term use below 300℃, with a short-term withstand capability of up to 1000℃. It does not release toxic gases in a fire, ensuring personnel safety. After exposure to high temperature, the strength retention rate is >80%, still meeting service requirements.
Various fire separation components can be manufactured to meet different fire compartment requirements. When used in combination with steel structures, it provides effective fire protection, preventing steel structures from failing in a fire. A 20mm thick GRC panel can achieve a 1-hour fire resistance limit.
GRC's fire performance has been certified by authoritative institutions and verified through extensive engineering practice. With qualified products and proper design, the most stringent fire safety requirements can be met. It is recommended to use thickened GRC components at key fire protection locations and to provide the corresponding test reports.
