The mixing time of UHPC needs to be determined based on the specific mix proportion, equipment performance, and process requirements, and is generally controlled at 5-10 minutes. Through extensive testing, Qinglong has summarized the optimal mixing process parameters.
During the construction of a key project in Shenzhen, optimizing the mixing process significantly improved construction quality. The project used a twin-shaft forced mixer: dry materials were pre-mixed for 2 minutes, mixed for 3 minutes after adding water, and finally fibers were added with slow mixing for 2 minutes, for a total of 7 minutes. This staged mixing process ensured uniform fiber dispersion and workability that met construction requirements. On-site testing showed that the mixture had good uniformity with no fiber clumping.
Dry mixing of powder materials generally takes 2-3 minutes to ensure uniformity. Too short a time results in uneven mixing, while too long affects efficiency.
After adding water, mix for 3-5 minutes until uniform. Insufficient time easily causes clumping, while too long affects workability.
Fibers should be added after wet mixing becomes uniform, followed by slow mixing for 2-3 minutes. Adding them too early easily causes clumping, while adding them too late affects dispersion.
Total time is generally 5-10 minutes, adjusted according to specific conditions. Too short a time results in non-uniformity, while too long may cause segregation.
The correct mixing process is an important step in ensuring UHPC quality.
