Precise proportioning of raw materials is the source of UHPC's ultra-high performance, and adjustments to the proportion of each component directly affect the material's final performance. As a professional manufacturer with 28 years of deep expertise in the UHPC field, Qinglong Group—from participating in the formulation of industry standards to delivering projects worldwide—has accumulated profound technical knowledge of UHPC's raw material composition and proportions, and well understands that rational component design is the core of ensuring project quality.
UHPC's raw material system consists mainly of six core components: cementitious materials, fine aggregates, mineral admixtures, fibers, chemical admixtures, and water. The proportion of each component must be dynamically adjusted according to project performance requirements. Through the R&D strength of its provincial-level engineering technology center, Qinglong has established a mix proportion database covering different application scenarios. Among these, cementitious materials, as the core base material, typically account for 40%-50%. Qinglong uses high-grade Portland cement or sulphoaluminate cement, whose high strength and high activity lay the foundation for UHPC's mechanical properties. In the Yirui Biotechnology Building project in Shenzhen, optimizing the quality of cementitious materials enabled the strength and stability of the UHPC curtain wall panels to meet design requirements.
Fine aggregates are key to UHPC's dense packing structure, accounting for approximately 30%-40%. Unlike traditional concrete, UHPC strictly prohibits the use of coarse aggregates. Qinglong carefully selects high-purity quartz sand with particle sizes of 0.15-1.25mm; its regular particle shape and low impurity content effectively improve the material's packing density and wear resistance. In the UHPC sculpture project at the Shanghai Astronomy Museum, the use of high-quality quartz sand gave the sculpture a smooth, delicate surface while ensuring structural uniformity under complex shapes. Mineral admixtures account for approximately 10%-20%, mainly including silica fume, ultra-fine fly ash, and slag powder. Through composite admixture technology, Qinglong enables these ultra-fine particles to fill the voids between cementitious materials and fine aggregates, further reducing porosity and enhancing the material's strength and durability—this technology has been fully validated in the 12,000-square-meter UHPC exterior wall panel project at the Yangshengtang Pharmaceutical Hangzhou Industrial Park.
As UHPC's reinforcing component, fibers account for approximately 2%-5% and are central to improving the material's flexural strength and toughness. Qinglong flexibly selects metallic or non-metallic fibers according to project requirements; the fiber selection logic will be analyzed in a dedicated article later. Chemical admixtures, though low in proportion (typically 0.5%-2%), play a role of 'achieving remarkable results with minimal dosage.' Qinglong's self-developed high-efficiency water reducer can substantially lower the water-binder ratio, improving strength while maintaining high workability. Auxiliary admixtures such as retarders and defoamers are precisely added according to the construction environment and shaping requirements. For example, in the Hainan project constructed in a high-temperature environment, retarders were used to adjust setting time and ensure construction quality. Water, as an indispensable component, accounts for only 8%-12%. An extremely low water-binder ratio is the key to UHPC's high densification. Through precise water control, Qinglong avoids excess moisture raising porosity, which is also an important guarantee of the stable performance of its products.
The proportions of the components are not fixed; they must be dynamically optimized according to factors such as the project's strength requirements, shape complexity, and construction environment. With 28 years of project experience, Qinglong Group can provide dedicated mix proportion schemes for each customized project. For example, in the hollowed-out UHPC panel project for the Ouargla Hotel in Algeria, by increasing the fiber proportion and optimizing the ratio of cementitious materials to aggregates, the strength requirements for a hollowing rate exceeding 50% were met. In the light-transmitting panel project at Shanghai New World, the proportions of mineral admixtures and chemical admixtures were adjusted to ensure the material's light transmittance and forming precision.
The scientific design of raw material composition and proportions is the foundation of UHPC's ultra-high performance. As a full-chain service provider integrating detailed design, manufacturing, construction and installation, and after-sales maintenance, Qinglong Group demonstrates the corporate values of 'Honesty, Striving, Trust, and Collaboration' at every step—from strict screening in raw material procurement, to precise optimization of mix design, to real-time monitoring of the production process—providing high-quality UHPC products and solutions to customers worldwide and promoting the innovative application of new building materials.
